I've sung a solo in the movie Patta Patti 50 50. The music is by Mr.ArulDev. He was Vidyasagar's keyboardist and programmer and now he's done his first movie.
Now I don't want to sound like one of those big shot folks who have templatized answers for interview questions, considering this isn't even an interview, but working with Mr.Arul was a great experience. I had a lot of freedom to improvise and stuff, and the song was good fun to sing.
It's a fully english song called Never Gonna Change, and you don't see many of them in our Tamil movies! Heck if I remember right the last time I heard one was Sooooiiiinnngg in the raaaaiiinnn ;-)
Ok without further ado, here's the song:

The initial response among friends has been pretty good, and it's heartening to see people actually listening to it. Do let me know what you think of the song :) And do spread the word around if you like it.
At the cost of sounding like a politician, without the phoneyness, heartfelt thanks to Arul sir for this song, and to all you folks for all the comments (that've come so far and hopefully will come hereafter) and encouragement and criticism and for being on various social networking sites and so on and so forth!
More interesting updates to follow.

Hey Vijay.. Song is too good man.. Hope this sets a new trend in Tamil music.. Rock on!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks jai :)
ReplyDeleteVj! song was pretty interesting... nice to see a full fledged english song.. last i remember is stranded on the streets and before that was that inspirational song from badri... look at my face in the mirror.. but i dont remember if it had traces of tamil in it. love this song though... however it would be wrong if ppl typecast u as a westernized singer after u wer rechristened Vj Adams... Great to see that you had featured in the Semmozhi backing vocals. Do blog about the experience of that song. Did u happen to sing in front of arr?
ReplyDeleteMan, I just happened to come to know that you had sung a song in Patta patti 50 50 thro' one of your colleagues who is also a friend of mine. Since, I'm not an esoteric bloke in music, it wouldn't be wise on my part if I choose to comment on the technicalities involved in it. But, I loved the song so much so that I listened to it for umpteen times on the trot! Great job, dude. Wish you many many offers to come your way and good luck for all the future endeavors :)
ReplyDelete@Fido: Thanks :) Ya even I hope I don't get branded. Hopefully I should get other opportunities to try out different stuff. And yes, shall post about the semmozhi experience soon :)
ReplyDelete@Rajesh: Thank you so much :) And nice blog you got dude

Thanks for updating about your first solo rendition. Just now heard the same, and it is very good. Your voice sounds great in this and i felt like it had the soul...like how Lucky ali's voice used to sound in his renditions. Long way to go man!
